Eventually it is going to happen...you make a mistake in the addition or subtraction in your check register. Your balance in your register is showing a $100 amount that you actually do not have. Thinking you have funds available you proceed to write a check or do a MAC withdrawal...the check or ATM withdrawal is presented to the Credit Union and your account shows up overdrawn.
Will the check be returned for "insufficient funds" and will my account be assessed the $25.00 overdraft fee? Not with OVERDRAFT PROTECTION.
The Credit Union will automatically transfer the amount needed to cover your check from your "available" savings to save you the embarrassment of a returned check and the $25 fee.
Of course, this service should only be relied on to protect you due to an error you may have made in your calculations since we do apply a $10 fee for automatic transfers. If you realize the error before it affects your account at the Credit Union use the 1-866-462-6409 Audio Response number to make your transfer at NO COST to you at anytime of the day.
STATEMENTS ON CHECKING ACCOUNTS ARE MAILED MONTHLY - FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION YOU SHOULD RECONCILE YOUR ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH
